I bet I know what you’re thinking… “What in the world is ‘Happy Exercise’?”
Happy Exercise is a methodology, a state of being and a lifestyle. I originally coined the term in the 90s when I first started doing Pilates. After years of hard-core, punishing, body-bashing workouts that focused only on burning calories and controlling my weight, Pilates was a completely different experience. For the first time in my lifetime of exercise, I was able to connect with my body… to feel my body… to consciously move my body… and it felt great. I felt strong. I felt flexible. And best of all, I didn’t hurt. Pilates was my “Happy Exercise.”
This life-changing experience helped me heal my relationship with my body – and with exercise itself! I was able to take what I had learned in the Pilates studio and apply it to all sorts of physical activities – including many of my old workouts – transforming them into “Happy Exercise.”
People started noticing a change in me and asked what I was doing. I answered those questions with my book, Happy Calories Don’t Count (neither does unhappy exercise). Since then, I’ve been able to help other women (and a few good men) embrace the principles of Happy Exercise – and Happy Calories – to create sustainable health and wellbeing – to create a body AND life they love!
